Technology brief

The technology of ethylbenzene production from refinery dry gas and benzene ethylation developed by Luoyang Kechuang Petrochemical Co., Ltd. takes the dry gas from refining unit and benzene from aromatics unit as raw materials, and directly produces ethylbenzene through ethylation reaction on proprietary catalyst. This technology promotes the upgrading of ethylbenzene production technology, transforms low value-added dry gas and benzene into high value-added ethylbenzene, makes full use of ethylene resources in refinery dry gas, improves the utilization rate of petroleum resources, and increases the economic benefits of the enterprise.

Technical characteristics

The technology is mature and reliable with excellent catalyst performance. The conversion of ethylene is more than 99%, the selectivity of ethylated products is more than 90%, the one-way operation cycle is more than 180 days, and the total life of catalyst is more than 2.5 years.

The technology has been applied in a dry gas ethylbenzene plant of a petrochemical enterprise in Ningxia.
